About This Course

This course is predominantly intended for practical users who need to enter spaces which are substantially endorsed and where risk assessment has identified the need to provide rescue arrangements.

Who Should Attend

For personnel conducting hazardous work activities or entering Restricted
Areas to do so are required to work under the Permit to Work System. Also, it is for those responsible for issuing and receiving permits.

Course Outline

After successful training, trainee can confidently work as a competent catalyst handling/breathing apparatus/inert entry technician in inert entry toxic/non toxic atmosphere and will be able to identify hazards and controls within confined spaces, develop an emergency procedure plan and describe the safe operation.

At the end of the course, the learner will know:

  • the body’s reaction to self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
  • the importance of oxygen to the body
  • personal protection while using an SCBA
  • how breathing apparatus will protect you as an employee
  • how to identify different types of breathing apparatus (BA)
  • how to identify different parts of BA
  • how to determine work duration of BA
  • precautions to take when donning a BA
  • how to identify different donning methods
  • how to use BA safely
  • how to identify emergency procedures while using BA.
